Book Review: The Farseer Trilogy. If you read a number of the older books about doing magic, and what people believed you could magically do, there is supposed magic whereby if you take the correct bone of a cat and put it under your tongue, you could become invisible. In the mood to read a good, “Assassin's Apprentice” (Book 1) begins with the main character as an old man recalling his life story, starting at the tender age of six. Assassin's Apprentice is the first volume in The Farseer Trilogy, my first work as Robin Hobb. It has never been available in I frequently receive queries as to how to find this book in hardcover. I grew up fatherless and motherless in a court where all recognized me as a catalyst. I read them on my Nook and it was fabulous; I could read on the train, on the bus, on planes, in the evenings before bed, waiting in line for museums. As a singular piece, it still retains a full dramatic arc even though this is simply the first in The Farseer trilogy.
